We are a fast-growing spin-off company from the University Hospitals Leuven and are passionate about solving real-world problems. This is why we develop highly innovative solutions for everyday problems in medical imaging environments. Our solutions aim to improve the quality and efficiency of radiology departments around the world.

We are located in Leuven, but our products are implemented in medical facilities all over Europe, the Middle East and Asia. In 2016 we endeavoured to internationalize even more and established our presence in the U.S through opening offices in New York.

Ensuring top-notch quality remains our foremost commitment. Hence, our quality management system adheres to ISO 13485:2016 standards for Medical Devices. Qaelum also proudly holds ISO 27001:2022 certification for Information Security. Additionally, our medical device tools are certified as CE 1639 class IIb.

## Our mission

It is our mission to make healthcare safer through developing software solutions for improved patient safety and quality in medical imaging diagnostics.

## Our vision

The European Directive on protection against ionising radiation was implemented in February 2018, and accreditation and certification are getting the more and more demanding. Consequently, the preparation for upcoming legislation and audits is of great importance, but these complex issues are often very stressful and difficult to handle. We want to take away the burden for you and ensure your compliance in an efficient and easy way.

With our software, your department can be organized in a very efficient way and patients will feel safer during medical imaging.

## Our story

![Qaelum Repo BB 44](https://qaelum.com/images/about-us/About-Qaelum/about_us_2.jpg) From an academic project at the University Hospitals Leuven to a European market leader in quality control. This is our story.

Our company was founded in 2011 by Prof. Dr. Ir. Hilde Bosmans, Prof. Dr. Raymond Oyen and Ir. Jurgen Jacobs. Together they aimed to improve quality control in mammography screening by developing a quality assurance software tool (MAMMO). This software was first implemented in the University Hospitals Leuven, but quickly piqued the interest of other hospitals.

When the Euratom directive 43/97 on radiation protection was issued, the need for quality control in radiology environments increased even more. Our software provided medical professionals around the world with a tool for quality control and monitoring.

Our activities evolved quickly. We rapidly went from developing a solution to improve quality assurance in mammography screening, to a tool to monitor patient radiation dose. Thus, our second solution (DOSE) was born. Since then, we have extended the portfolio with a manual assessment tool for radiology departments (BASELINE) and a quality management system (COACH).

Today, our software is present in more than 16 countries around the world. We started our expansion overseas and are continuously working on new tools to improve patient safety and quality control in medical imaging environments worldwide.
