# Our 2017 accomplishments according to Leuven MindGate

[Leuven MindGate ](http://www.leuvenmindgate.be/)is an organisation that positions the region of Leuven as a premier destination for Health, High-Tech and Creativity. By connecting organisations as well as individuals in a unique ecosystem, its mission is to inspire innovation and increase interdisciplinary collaborations for the entire region.

Last year, Leuven MindGate included us on the[ list](http://www.leuvenmindgate.be/news/ten-start-ups-to-watch-in-2017) of ten start-ups to keep an eye on in 2017. As the end of the year draws near, they have written a summary of what those ten start-ups have accomplished this year:

In 2016, [Qaelum](https://qaelum.com/) had established itself as **Belgian market leader** in medical imaging quality control and were active in Europe and the Middle East as well. After increasing its capital by €2 million, Qaelum opened a new subsidiary in the United States to target radiology departments in both the US and Canada.

***THIS YEAR***

The year started off with a new partnership with Virtual Phantoms, allowing Qaelum customers to obtain advanced **organ dose data** in their monitoring software. They expanded their solution to hospitals in **Russia, Spain and Denmark** among others. In the summer, Qaelum released COACH, a software solution to optimize quality and efficiency in order to create an environment where patients feel and are safe, both in Europe, the Middle East and North America.

In May of this year, we were mentioned as well by [Silicon Luxembourg](https://www.siliconluxembourg.lu/10-startups-to-look-out-for-in-leuven/) as one of ten start-ups to look out for in Leuven.
